Thrive Centered: Damithia Nieves

Damithia Nieves (she/they) is the founder of Thrive Centered, whose mission is to continue the work of decolonizing wellness and improving access to healing practices for BIPOC communities and youth — and fostering diversity and inclusion in all communities.

As facilitator and educator, Damithia offers trauma-informed, healing centered and culturally responsive movement and mindfulness practices and /programming to youth in schools (K-12) and throughout communities.

Damithia creates liberated spaces and opportunities for healing to occur, prioritizing relationships, collaborative and reciprocal learning/teaching and community responsibility.

As a dedicated practitioner and advocate for self and community care, she is rooted in disrupting dominant narratives that derail personal and collective growth and healing.

She shines most brightly where race, social justice and community intersect with quality of life, yoga and collective wellness.

Damithia is currently a facilitator of Yoga Behind Bars “Trauma Informed Yoga” training program, supporting teachers as they learn to mindfully engage with political education, community love, and transformation.

Damithia lives with her partner and children on Duwamish Coast Salish Territory.
